Futorip and its natives are ruled by a hierarchal monarchy that has had despotic eras in the past, before and after Interworld contact. The king or queen chooses advisors from subdistricts across the world (undefined) to serve as advisors, although the monarch retains ultimate authority. The advisors themselves are more often than not born into their positions. Subdistricts are ruled by hierarchal nobles. The subsystem of hierarchies has lent to the longevity of the hierarchal system. Disenchanted peasants typically will take rebellion to the closest ruling family, with the Laliberse shielded by distance and military power. Planetary leadership controls communications to citizenry, with limits to off-world access, a privilege of the elite.

Alien citizenship is disallowed, but residence is tolerated in one of four spaceports: Yalis, Garmiz, Raimoin, Tocst. Land and fixed property ownership is disallowed.

Futolins are literate and technologically advanced, demonstrated most clearly by the presence of the spaceyards. Temporary migrant workers are sometimes allowed, although aliens are taxed more severely than Futolins. Most alien workers serve in the spaceport cities.

Other interworld traveling races initiated contact with Futorip at an early space-age technological level (i.e. weather satellites.)

Everyday life circa 62194 is described by aliens as corrupt. The monarchy has controlled the native population for so long that the average Futolin believes he is happy.
